What To Store In Your Copper Canisters: An Ultimate Guide

Our hand hammered Copper Canisters are not only stylish accessories for your kitchen, they offer practical storage for everyday items.

However, our handmade copper canisters do not have an airtight seal. That means they are not meant for storing perishable food items that will take you a while to finish.

What To Store In Copper Canisters: An Ultimate Guide

The best things to store in your beautiful Sertodo Copper Canisters include:

  • Sugar
  • Coffee beans or coffee powder
  • Salt
  • Flour
  • Rice or grains
  • Tea leaves
  • Dry baked goods(to be consumed within 1 week)
  • Dried fruit

What NOT to store:

  • Cookies
  • Baked goods including muffins, madeleines, quiches etc.
  • Any food that has moisture in them such as bread

According to size, we also have recommendations on the best things to store in our Copper Canisters.

If you are an avid baker or home cook, our Large Copper Canisters are the perfect containers for your flour, rice or dry goods to keep them fresh and organised. You can then store sugar in our small or medium Copper Canisters and place them together in a row. This makes you entire baking experience much more streamlined, and beautiful(the copper bling definitely elevates your entire kitchen for sure!)

Our Copper Composting Canisters

On the other hand, if you are using our Copper Composting Canisters, we also have recommendations on the food scraps that will actually work well in your compact composting bins.

Copper Composting Canisters
  • Fruit and vegetable peel/scraps(corn leaves, watermelon rind, apple cores)
  • Spoiled produce(Overripe banana or avocado, broccoli stalk etc.)
  • Egg shells
  • Coffee granules from capsules
  • Tea bags
  • Paper products(cardboard, paper towels etc.)
  • Stale bread, spices, rice, or pasta

As well as what you store in the canisters, the size of your food scraps also matter. Chopping or slicing your big food scraps into smaller piece not only speeds up decomposition, it also avoids taking up too much space in your Composting Canisters.

The Best Companion To Your Copper Canisters

To complete more than just the look but for practical purposes, most of our customers also get the Copper Scoop to use with our Copper Canisters.
