Want to restore your beautiful Sertodo copper piece to its former shiny glory without any water spots? It's easier than you think! In this guide, we give you 3 super easy ways to remove water spots within minutes. The best part is, you will be using things you probably already have at home.
3 Easy Ways To Remove Water Spots
Water spots form on copper due to mineral buildup from leftover moisture on its surfaces. But don't worry! You can restore your beautiful Sertodo copper pieces to its original sheen with these DIY methods.
1. Baking Soda Paste(The Easiest)
Not long after moving into my new home, I started using my Copper Water Dispenser regularly.
After cleaning my Niagara Copper Water Dispenser for the first time, I forgot to wipe it dry with a cloth. A few days later, water spots already emerged and my water dispenser no longer looked brand new and shiny.
Determined to restore my stunning water dispenser to its former glory, I grabbed some baking soda from my pantry and made a quick paste out of it. Here is what it looked like before and after.

All you need are the following two ingredients:
- 3 tablespoons of baking soda
- Approximately 1-2 tablespoons of water
Instructions:
- Mix baking soda and water. Your mixture should be a paste that is workable with your hands.
- Using a soft cloth, apply the baking soda paste to the water spots on your copper piece.
- Let the paste sit for 10 minutes. Then scrub the water spots in a circular motion using a soft-bristled brush or cloth.
- Once you have covered all of your water spots, rinse and pat dry thoroughly.
Note: If your water spots are not coming off with this paste, it will require a different solution. Combine 3 parts baking soda with 1 part lemon juice or vinegar to create a stronger, foaming abrasive.
2. Lemon and Salt
Another great combination to remove water spots is lemon and salt. For this DIY water spot removal, you will need 1 lemon and some salt.
Instructions:
- Cut your lemon in half.
- Dip the lemon directly into a bowl of salt. For best results, use coarse salt as it will be much more abrasive and effective.
- Rub the salted lemon in a circular motion on the water spots.
- Let the mixture sit for at least 15 to 20 minutes to break down any stubborn buildup.
- Wipe the area thoroughly with a damp cloth. You can also buff dry with a microfibre cloth to get rid of those last pesky bits of tiny water spots!
3. Vinegar and Salt
Similar to the concept of lemon and salt, vinegar also works well with salt to help remove water stains or spots on your copper cookware and any of our Sertodo copper goods.
You will need 1 cup white vinegar and 1 tablespoon salt. Similarly, apply this mixture using a soft cloth in a circular motion. Leave for 10 to 15 minutes then rinse thoroughly and dry. That's it!
How To Prevent New Water Spots From Forming
Want to keep your copper pieces looking like brand new?
Make sure to do this ONE thing after every wash. Use a clean cloth to pat any remaining droplets of water and pat it dry. Hang it to dry or place it on a rack to dry completely before reusing.
