Sertodo Copper will be transforming their workspace into a showcase for many talented artists and their craft during the East Austin Studio Tour 2014.
Our studio will be open for visitors Saturday and Sunday November 15th and 16th, and also the following Saturday and Sunday, November 22nd and 23rd, between the hours of 11am and 6pm.
Sertodo Copper is an international cooperative of Master copper artesans based in Austin, Texas with workshops in Austin and a small region of Michoacan, Mexico with a tradition of copperwork extending back over 1000 years. Beginning in 2000, the director of Sertodo Copper, Jonathan Beall, apprenticed for several years in the town of Santa Clara del Cobre under master artisans Don Chema, Maximo Velazquez and James Metcalf before founding workshops in Mexico and Texas.
Sertodo Copper stands at the edge of our rapidly changing world, maintaining a balance between ancient and modern with a deep respect for our craft and the work of the human hand. Jonathan Beall will be joined at his studio with Maestro Maximo and his sons for demonstrations of some of their traditional copper working techniques that range from pre-colombian and pre-industrial to the modern day.
Brady Foster Metal Studio will have several work stations with hammers and anvils for those who'd like to get a hands on experience with forging metal, with several accomplished blacksmiths on hand to answer questions and offer demonstrations.

Phillip Hernandez, skilled woodworker, will be showing some of the latest creations of his Domi Goods enterprise.
Ken and Pam Arthur, both highly accomplished painters, will be displaying some works from their latest series of paintings.
Chef Tanner Harris and a few other folks will be on hand as well to make sure nobody goes hungry!
